The growing popularity of ChatGPT is based on a rootless and free gathering of information from the free web for its training. This process is not sustainable. Over time, ChatGPT will start taking away visitors and revenues from Google. As users switch from Google’s Search Engine to ChatGPT or one of its future competitors, they will flee the search engine environment, preferring the complete and well-structured answers provided by Generative Artificial Intelligence. Without visitors coming to their websites and consuming their content, content creators’ motivation to continue producing high-quality content will gradually fade until it is no longer sustainable to keep making good content.
The entire SEO ecosystem is going to go though a complete evolution. It is too early to predict what the new ecosystem will look like. At this moment, we can only say that the current SEO environment days are numbered.
