eCommerce Tip #125: Use Structured Data to describe your page to Google crawler

Stop being afraid of structured data (JSON-LD).

Structured Data is a simple snippet of JavaScript describing the content of your page. It’s easy to write and even simpler to validate (just google it!).

Great SEO results guaranteed!

Tip #125 – © Franco Folini

Structured Data for eCommerce not only makes Google crawler life easier (and your SEO better), by explaining in plain Javascript (JSON-LD) the content of your page, it also provides Google with content that can be used to create a Rich Snippet in the SERP. A Rich Snippet will give your page a preferential position and visibility attracting additional visitors.

You can test your JSON-LD on the free JSON-LD Playground or on the Google Structured Data Testing Tool.

The formal definition of the JSON-LD Schema is available online on Schema.org. I would recommend to start by looking at the Product schema, Brand schema, and Organization schema.
