Guida alla Street Art a Chinatown, Oakland

Oakland ospita una grande varietà di popolazioni. C’è indubbiamente una forte presenza di afro-americani, purtroppo caratterizzati da livelli preoccupanti di povertà, e di molte altre etnie come latini, indiani, ecc. Una delle comunità più antiche e più compatte è certamente la comunità cinese che occupa un intero quartiere quasi nel centro della città. Il quartiere ovviamente si chiama Chinatown e ha un aspetto comune a tutte le Chinatown del mondo. Nell’attraversare questo quartiere ho scattato alcune foto ai murali e graffiti che decorano numerosi edifici ed attività commerciali.

I murali di Oakland

Molti dei murali rappresentano il famoso drago cinese. Appartengono tutti a un progetto denominato 99 Dragons che ha l’obiettivo di decorare l’intera Chinatown di Oakland con 99 draghi.
